Tuesday 6 May: to Barra

A slightly warmer night although fleece and hat still on! What an idyllic spot this is. Breakfast overlooking the bay before setting off to Oban. We are greeted with a warning light on the van and have a momentary panic as the handbook suggests engine issues 🙄. We decide to ignore and go to Tescos for supplies and an outdoor shop for warm clothes for Simon! On restarting the light does not come on 🤞 We wait for the 11.40 ferry to Castlebay on Barra. It is very calm. We sail through the Sound of Mull and out to the western isles. It takes 5 hours. We see a pod of dolphins and some castles on the way. We disembark at Castlebay and drive all of 3 miles to our campsite at Borva. We are glad we booked. Lovely pitch overlooking the sea. It’s feels very remote and a bit warmer too. A gentle stroll onto the beach and back before supper.
