Saturday 10 May: North Uist

A leisurely start with time to do a bit of laundry before our beachside sauna experience. It’s just us and a sol traveller from the Gower. What a spot! Spectacular views over the bay and the cows on the dunes. It’s exhilarating dipping in the sea although it’s low tide so we have to jog a long way out to lie down in it. It feels wonderfully invigorating afterwards. Warm showers before an early lunch / late brunch of scallop and bacon roll with coffee. Delicious 😋 We then venture off on the bikes. The wind is pretty strong now and it’s great cycling with it behind us but very challenging with a side wind or a headwind! Stunning views along the way. Too windy for birds but we think a hen harrier at a distance. Back for tea and cake before reading books nested in a dune on the beach. Possibly rain forecast for the morning so we pack up in preparation. Crab starter and smoked salmon and scrambled egg on our menu this evening. Ferry to Harris in the morning.
